A large man-made lake with an area of 84 square kilometers, Kaylana Lake is situated 8 kilometers west of Jodhpur. The main source of drinking water for the city of Jodhpur and the neighboring towns was constructed in 1872 by Pratap Singh. Most travelers using the route between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur must stop at this lake, which is situated in a tranquil area. It’s also a fantastic spot to watch the Jodhpur sunset.
Babul trees, hills, and rock formations encircle the lovely lake, offering tourists a variety of picturesque vistas. To build the artificial lake, Pratap Singh destroyed ancient gardens and fortresses built by kings Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh. The lake’s main inflow, Hati Canal, really connects to Indira Gandhi Canal. The lake’s main outflows are Umaid Sagar and Takhat Sagar.
